This is one of the best little ski hills in all of Canada, family owned and operated. Lots of different runs with varying terrain for different skill levels. Friendly staff, very reasonable rates - especially compared to the corporate owned hills.
If you are into skiing hard, Loch Lomond is by far the best lift area skiing between the Rockies and the Laurentians.
The Giant is exhilarating for hard-carving SG turns and tucking at 20 over the highway speed limit on very hard-pack.
The Devil's Dive is open step turn time on the steeps.
The Jolly Giant is a magnificent bump run.
The hill was designed and built by an Olympic racer.
It shows.

Loch Lomond is as good as skiing gets in Ontario. Without the population base of Blue Mountain, it's not set up as a large commercial enterprise, but the skiing variety is great - strong glades and challenging (not expert) terrain - perfect for the beginner to intermediate skiing family
Growing up in the racing circuit I have travelled throughout Ontario and Quebec and I can vouch that Loch Lomond has some of the best terrain East of the Rocky Mountains. Some may attempt to compare it to highly developed resorts such as Blue Mountain or Mont Tremblant, but that wouldnt be fair. It may not have the acrage as these resorts but for what is has it is a very diverse, challenging yet a friendly mountain. From the steeps of the Devils Dive, the moguls of the Jolly Giant and the continuos grade of the Giant the North facing slopes offer challenge and fun. The south facing slopes offer sun all day long with more intermediate runs. The terrain park is looking better than ever with well over a dozen jibs and multiples table tops and jumps. The snow making crew did an acceptional job this year especially considering the poor weather they had to work with at the begining of the season. The weather is hit or miss but this is out of our control. The bar in the chalet is warming and is always filled with social and open skiers and boarders who are all there to have a good time. I would recommend Loch Lomond to anyone living in Thunder Bay or just passing through.
hill is icy all the time, rarely groomed, park does not flow, barely any boxes/rails and they are all ride on, park is not maintained, way too expensive, lodge is dirty always and falling apart, the food is the worst quality i have ever seen and way over priced, random dogs running around all the time

Where do i begin? well how bout the fact that it takes 15 mins to get up the hill and approx 39 secs to get down and the hill is a giant ice cube, nice grooming guys...lol. Not to mention the day lodge is falling apart, all this for over 40 bucks a day, i'll pass. They do have some fun night skiing though.
