Il comprensorio sciistico più vicino all'area metropolitana di Denver e uno dei pochi in Colorado ad offrire lo sci notturno. Si percorre la I-70 per un paio di miglia, a meno che non si percorra la strada più lunga passando per Idaho Springs. Ha una piacevole atmosfera a conduzione familiare, a differenza di alcuni degli altri resort aziendali più grandi lungo la strada. Un buon posto per i principianti e per chi, come me, non scia da oltre due anni e vuole riprendere il ritmo.

Jeremiah è stato di grande aiuto nella scelta e nella prova degli scarponi da sci, e Timm è stato un istruttore fantastico e super cordiale. Un impianto di risalita per sciatori di livello intermedio e avanzato, e una scala mobile per i principianti. Atmosfera allegra sulle piste e al ristorante. Qualcuno ti indica dove parcheggiare, e nelle giornate più affollate l'attesa per ritirare gli scarponi a noleggio è comunque breve. È meglio acquistare gli skipass e gli scarponi a noleggio almeno il giorno prima della partenza. Gli sconti per i militari sono apprezzati, grazie.

Facile gita di un giorno da North COS o Denver. Si percorre la I-70 solo per circa 8 chilometri. Se avete bambini, potete aspettarvi di dedicare circa il 50% del tempo totale del viaggio allo sci/snowboard, il che per me è un record. Le località sciistiche più spettacolari offrono circa il 20-30% del tempo effettivo sulle piste, se volete concentrarlo comodamente in un giorno, e il traffico può essere terribile al ritorno sulla I-70. A conduzione familiare, tutto è tranquillo, non riesco a credere che esistano ancora posti come questo.

Ho incontrato degli amici e la loro figlia di due anni per andare a fare tubing. Ero in anticipo di 1:50 e sono rimasto seduto nel parcheggio per 20 minuti cercando di acquistare un biglietto online. Non ci sono riuscito e sono entrato. Mi è stato detto che non si possono acquistare biglietti online per meno di 2 ore e che il prezzo è passato da 29 a 42 dollari PER UN'ORA! Ho chiesto: "Posso acquistare un biglietto per l'ora successiva e la metropolitana ora?" NO. Tenete presente che era mercoledì pomeriggio e le corse della metropolitana erano completamente vuote. Ma, nessuna eccezione, nessuna preoccupazione, nessun ragionevole "sai, non è un grosso problema, ora siamo vuoti, ti vendiamo un biglietto da 29 dollari". NO. Ho chiesto a due dipendenti diversi... lo stesso atteggiamento indifferente.
Francamente, la collina per il tubing non vale 29 dollari all'ora e sicuramente non vale 42 dollari all'ora. SCONSIGLIO vivamente Echo Mountain.

It's a great deal! Fun place for a quick family trip! The tube sledding is awesome! and so is the food!!

Echo is a rather beginner to intermediate practice mountain with 2-3 runs and one ski lift. It's not a place where you would want to go on a multi-day trip, but is better suited for the local Denver resident or an intermediate skier trying to get some practice in before heading to the big resorts. The food and bar is adequate and is relatively inexpensive. You will have fun, but not for long.

No Veteran's passes = I will not renew this year. Overpriced for what you get by far. Dangerous for beginners and on crowded days not infrequent to see skis and snowboards flying down the hill and airborn which is extremely dangerous!
Not recomendable unless you are intermediate and above and willing to swivel head the entire time onslope to avoid loose skis ans people out of control.

I took my parents here over the recent holiday week to refresh them after a 15 year break from skiing. The staff were helpful and friendly, the slopes were the perfect difficulty for getting their ski legs back, and there were enough steeper sections to keep me entertained as well. We got in for first chair, and didn't really face any crowd whatsoever for several hours.
Only downside was the single trail to the only lift. Its a moderately difficult green, and it proved too difficult for a large number of first time skiers who attempted it as the day wore on. By the end of our visit, the hardest challenge was dodging snowboarders wiped out on the way. This was likely more to do with the time of year than the resort, though, and overall it was still an amazing experience.
If you are a competent green skier at nearby resorts like Loveland, this could be the perfect place to improve and prepare for harder trails. You cannot beat the price or proximity to Denver, so I know I'll be back a few times this season!

WOW! Echo...what an experience! I tried calling Echo Mountain about 8 or 10 times over a 2 day period. Never got an answer. They just don't answer the phone there so I couldn't tell if they were open or get info. There website was also up and down. When I was finally able to open the website I found some old info on it from last year and the answers to my questions were not listed. They are simply way over priced for what you actually get and therefore a poor value. In addition, they don't offer any senior pricing that most all other ski areas (both large and small) do. I took a chance and drove up to Echo anyway and to my surprise they were open. I told ticket office staff of my frustrations and inability to contact them. The staff person's curt answer was that they are a very small area and just can't get to everything. (Note: I'm a single person business and have managed to stay in business for 30 years by handling everything by myself including phone answering) Echo was the 23rd of a total of 28 ski areas that I plan to ski yet this year in Colorado. And some areas I've skied so far are about the same size as Echo. Conclusion: All things considered, through my online and actual on the snow research, I find that Echo is without a doubt the worst ski area I have visited so far this year in Colorado. I give them a score of a generous one star.
