Despite Closed Lifts, Mountain Creek Loyalists Hike For Spring Turns

We don't need to be reminded what a hard winter this has been as far as snowfall is concerned and no resort downcountry knows that perhaps as well as Mountain Creek. It's the third week of March and while the lifts may not be running, the hike park is officially open and park loyalists are packing in every last lap while it lasts.

According to their latest snow report, "the Arena at South will remain open as long as the snow lasts!  We piled a ton of it to create a dynamic hike park containing three platforms of nine permanent jibs plus new drop-in features daily."

The park is open weekdays from 3 p.m to dark and this coming weekend from 11 a.m-5 p.m at just $15 a ticket for non-pass holders.

And there's no shortage of evening activty to reward those seriously earning their last turns of the season. The resort's free spring concert series is about to kick off this weekend with a live performance by pop hit cover band, Mashwork Orange. Doors open at 8 p.m and show starts at 10 p.m

This is what the sport is all about and as the Park blog puts it so eloquently, "Lifts are for wimps." So grab your shades, the warmest wax you can find and get out there to show Mother Nature, it ain't over, 'til it's over.
